The 8 in an IP code means prolonged immersion: the manufacturer commits to more than a metre and more than half an hour. That is what you want if the speaker is going to end up in the pool, in the river, or at the bottom of the backpack the day the bottle gives way. Mind the order of the two digits: in «IP68» the first one is dust and the second is water, so an IPX8 protects against water exactly the same and it is dust it says nothing about.
